The DataGarden · Brand Browser
Every brand's footprint, shop by shop and region by region.
Where a retail chain has its own shops. Where a product brand is on someone else's shelf. The Brand Browser keeps the two apart, compares brands region by region, and shows how each store network changes from one quarter to the next.

What it will answer
Three questions, one place to look.
Who is where?
Every location of a brand on the map and in a table, counted per country, region and city, with the people living there.
- Shops per region and per 10,000 inhabitants
- Regions where a brand is absent
Who sells what?
For a product brand, the shops that resell it. For a shop, the brands it carries. A brand's own stores are counted separately from its resellers.
- Own stores and resellers, kept apart
- Brands carried by each shop
How do networks change?
Each brand's store finder is read every quarter. Openings and closures show up as a change in the count, brand next to brand.
- Locations per quarter, per brand
- Brands compared over the same quarters
A first look
Three views, drawn with real-looking figures.
These are sketches of the views we are building, using the Dutch bicycle market. Shop counts and store-finder figures come from the data behind Geo Sales today; anything marked illustrative is an example.

Whose shop is it?
A brand store and a dealer that carries the brand are different things. The Brand Browser splits every brand's locations into its own stores and the shops that resell it, so a direct-to-consumer brand and a dealer brand can be read side by side.

Which networks grow, and which shrink?
The locations each brand lists on its own store finder, quarter by quarter. A brand whose bar starts later was added to tracking in that quarter.
